Title: That Strange and Subtle Magic of Birthdays

A/N: What began as a simple birthday fic and spiraled out of control into a multi-part, sort of AU fic based on several different sources, including the short story "The Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye". Hopefully, this helps explain some of the confusion that arose in the last couple chapters...I'm not very good at this long fic business.
( For once in his life, Yusuke can’t pry – can’t pester, can’t bother, can’t wheedle – because every time he thinks about trying, he sees Kurama’s eyes again, dark green and in clear agony. )
