Interview Meme

Seriously, I swear I'll post something substantial soon. Like the final chapters of that multi-part Kurama/Yusuke fic I started something like two years ago. And something original, too, just for the hell of it.
But for now: more memes! You have Blue to blame for this one.
Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me!" I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your journal. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on until you die or forget to do it...whichever comes first.
I preface this by saying: I'm really not creative at all, so feel free to ask me for an interview - but I can't guarantee the quality of the questions you'll get.
But, on to the actual meme. Questions from
blueutopiah
1. Will you be at Princeton in the spring so we can meet up for dinner one night? I'll make the drive down. YES. I will be here until sometime in late May, with a week off in...late March, I believe for Spring Break, when I am being lame and going home. Probably.
2. What is your favourite type of music to sing? (arias, show tunes, rock...) Hmm... I'm not particularly picky, but I will admit to really enjoying a good show tune. The Broadway performance I went out on senior year of high school really stands out in my mind as being particularly fun. Probably because it involved flimsy tops, fishnet stockings, and groping myself onstage in front of my Headmistress.
3. Narcissistic question: Which one of my stories is your favourite and why? You know, given our most recent exchange of comments, you might not expect this, and I'm not sure I did, either, but - I think I'd have to go with "Daddy". I think I like it because it's something that really stuck with me, you know? And it's something I would never have considered writing, but it's just... I don't know. Creepy and wrong and fantastic, all at the same time.
4. What is your favourite band and why? Okay, this? A totally unfair question. I listen to such a strange amalgamation of music with absolutely no preference for genre or group that I couldn't even begin to answer this. So, in lieu of actually answering, I am simply going to point out a band that is lame, but has some really entertaining lyrics and dreadfully catchy songs: Newsboys.
5. When was the last time you cried? I'm going to assume - regardless of what you actually meant, because I honestly can't remember the most recent time I cried - that you mean really cried, like, for a good reason. Which would make it...sometime in mid-December, when I went home for Christmas. And, assuming you're going to want details, it was over the fact that I really have no idea if I'm going to be able to do what I want to do with my life - but I have contingency plans for that situation, so it'll all be okay. I hope.

Date: 2009-02-10 02:08 am (UTC)2. I like to read, sing ,and just...hang out.
3. I love to sing, read, write music, and play video games. The people I like are the ones who don't take themselves seriously.
3. I found your fics through some rec site. You got me into YusKur, and now, I love it.
5. My idea of the perfect day is one where it's about sixty degrees all day, and there's nothing to do at school but chill.

Date: 2009-02-10 03:16 am (UTC)And another warm-weather lover. Interesting, given I chose to give up the balmy West Coast for the East.

Date: 2009-02-12 02:49 am (UTC)The technical part is very difficult to understand if you have little background in it. Don't give up!

Date: 2009-02-12 02:53 am (UTC)I'm noticing that the less I think about it, the easier certain things are. Like dictation assignments - if I just write the music as I hear it, rather than think, 'Is that right? Maybe I should check it...' I'm actually not bad.
I think I sort of have an instinctive knowledge of things from my years performing (like you, I've been doing structured choral music for...oh...thirteen years?), so the less I second-guess myself, the better.

Date: 2009-02-12 03:14 am (UTC)The Aural skills part isn't hard at all, but the whole 'Write a chorale in ten minutes' is.
